A direct excursion to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest volcano at 3,350 metres, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.
Departure by coach with a tour leader, arriving at the Etna station at 1,900 metres.
Stop and free time available for a gentle hike at your own pace, visiting the most recent lava flows and the now-extinct Silvestri craters.
Optional ascent by cable car to 2,500 metres, followed by a journey in powerful off-road vehicles (4×4 buses) to the maximum permitted altitude, accompanied by authorised mountain guides from the CAI (Italian Alpine Club).
Stop to admire the activity of the summit craters from a safe area.
Warm clothing and suitable footwear are recommended. The tour will then continue with a journey through the flavours and typical local produce of Zafferana Etnea.
Etna Basic SPECIAL SOUTH TOUR consists of a bus transfer to Rifugio Sapienza at an altitude of 1,900 metres, with approximately 3½ hours of free time to admire the Silvestri craters (entrance fee not included) and to buy souvenirs against a breathtaking backdrop. The tour will then continue with a honey tasting in Zafferana Etnea.
